Judging__Eagle at [unixtime wrote:1196703022[/unixtime]]Like I said before, gotta be a Troll or a high lvl RoW Barb to survive that at all, or use RoW adamantine to survive the damage dealt.

This reminds me of a webcomic where the protagonist has been essentially told that he can't die.

He keeps coming back to life. Which sucks for him. Since what usually kills him is this girl that got rebuilt into a cyborg, and has parts of her pet cat's brain in her brain. Sleeping with an obsessed cyborg cat girl with actual claws for claws is painful, bloody.

Actually, more like not sleeping, since the having your chest caved in by cyborg claws and then have your chest ripped open tends to prevent sleeping from occuring.

Why is it that whenever someone decides to make a comic on the internet he has the luminous idea to make it utter shit?

Actually, I stopped reading it a long time ago and forget what it was called. Mostly b/c it didn't update often enough.

The art was pretty good actually.

Fwib at [unixtime wrote:1196702136[/unixtime]]Sadly, the Ring of Regeneration doesn't give you regeneration, as it did back in 2e. This is sad. 90k for fast healing <<1.

I checked the SRD before I posted it and that's not what the SRD says.

SRD wrote:This white gold ring continually allows a living wearer to heal 1 point of damage per level every hour rather than every day. (This ability cannot be aided by the Heal skill.) Nonlethal damage heals at a rate of 1 point of damage per level every 5 minutes. If the wearer loses a limb, an organ, or any other body part while wearing this ring, the ring regenerates it as the spell. In either case, only damage taken while wearing the ring is regenerated.

Yeah, you get limbs back, but there are so few ways of actually losing limbs, short of DM fiat, that's just fluff text. I guess I should have extra-clarified that you didn't get regeneration, and so you don't have any protection from death due to hp loss.

[edit]Of course, if there are a bunch of ways to lose limbs without death I am not aware of (the only one I can think of is Wither Limb in the BoVD) feel free to point out how wrong I am about the usefulness of the ring.

[more edit]Actually, since it says 'as the spell' presumably all the effects of the spell would be triggered when the regenerate effect was: So chop off your pinky finger, hold it to the wound, and heal 4d8+15 hp, fatigue, exhaustion and all subdual damage - do this repeatedly until fully healed - I don't think 90k for out-of-combat healing is a terribly good deal, tho.

Sigh... lotta edits.

sigma999 at [unixtime wrote:1196568125[/unixtime]]Here's an idea: take all that, put it in a feat for devilish half-fiends and tieflings.

Sure. Why not?

Kyton Blooded
Either one of your ancestors got it on with a Chain Devil, or you just have that kind of planar essence within you. Let's call it the second one, shall we? Yeah, I thought so too.

Prerequisite: Some kind of fiendish heritage, whether it be racial (Tiefling, Half-Fiend, "I'm actually demonic!" Aasimar), class-based (True Fiend, Fiendish Brute) or whatever. If there is a way of specifying, it must be a Devil.

Benefits: You gain a +3 bonus on Climb, Craft: Metalworking and Intimidate checks. You also gain a Climb speed equal to your land speed when using chains. You gain proficiency with chain shirts, and suffer no spell failure of any kind from them.

BAB +1: Any chain weapon you wield (spiked chain, morning star, flail, nunchaku, a length of chain, sword-chucks etc.) sees its length increased by 5 feet. It still threatens (and can be used to make attacks into) the area it previously threatened, but now it also extends 5' beyond that.

BAB +6: If you have chains you can use to swing around on, you essentially gain a Fly speed equal to your land speed, with poor maneuverability, though you can still hover in place. If the chains are damaged or there is nothing to attach them to, you will fall. Think "Spiderman" or "George of the Jungle" (albeit with less colliding into trees).

BAB +11: You now gain a lesser form of Dancing Chains. As a Standard action, you can animate up to two chains within 30 feet, and direct them to attack using your own ranged attack bonus and applying your Charisma modifier as a bonus to damage. You may power attack with these, and they count as being wielded by you for all purposes of special abilities. If you make a full attack action, you can animate two chains to attack once each (at your highest attack bonus) as part of this action. If one of these chains is being wielded by someone, they can make a Will save (DC 10 + half your level + your CHA modifier) to resist.

BAB +16: Your Dancing Chains ability improves to four chains. Additionally, chain shirts you wear impose no maximum Dex bonus, nor do they impose a penalty on any skill checks. They also see their armour bonus increase by +4, and grant you Fast Healing equal to half your level (though Fire or Holy damage will shut this down for one minute).

Awesome feat. Just if it's a racial feat, why does it scale by BAB and not character level? Kinda shafts the Medium BAB Tieflings/half-fiends out there...
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. Yes.

Also Koumei,

:loveya:

My players will hate you for writing that feat. Some at least. One of them might pick want to pick it up.

On the topic of modifying the melee reach of a weapon, here's an interesting question.

If a creature is larger than medium and gets an ability that would add +5' to their reach, does that creature instead gain +10' (or more) of reach or does the ability only add 5 more feet to base range?

I'm thinking no, but it never hurts to see what other people think.

:bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow:

I agree though, level-dependant (or something) is better than BAB since there are not only LA+ to worry about, the Fiendish Brute has pathetic BAB!!!

One or two skills on the Kyton's racial skill list, or one in which they gain a bonus (any single Craft: metal type?)

Here's Kyton skills:
Skills: Climb +13, Craft (blacksmithing) +17, Escape Artist +13, Intimidate +12, Listen +13, Spot +13, Use Rope +2 (+4 with bindings)

Their best seems to be the Craft, but that's with +8 bonus.
My picks are Intimidate, Climb, or maybe even both.

EDIT: Another thought.... Craft is a good pick. Reason behind the bond with Craft and chain usage would be that the demi-Kyton develops a supernatural link with the metals they work. The better they get at it, the more the chains respond.

Intimidate, b/c it makes sense since I see them as scary, not as mountaineers.

I second. I also say you should just go ahead and toss in Craft...In case it ever comes up. Like impressing Beardy McBeerstein the master blacksmith.

Good idea, making it skill based. So you gain the abilities at 4, 9, 14 and 19 skill ranks in "Intimidate". Or whatever. I wouldn't even mind if it was character level (special: for NPCs, replace "character level" with "CR") 1, 6, 11 and 16 - yes, that means you automatically get the first extra seeing as you can't be level 0.

This feat shows the existing heritage feats for the pathetic wastes they are. I might do more some time, based on other fiends. Heck, other Outsiders even, for those who want to model their build on a giant frog or giant ant (or a Celestial. I hear some people like being good guys who descended from other good guys).
